3 Tips for Reducing Pain

From a Standing Job

Glendale Physical Therapist

Often times physical therapy offices really focus on tips for those that  have a desk job, and who are constantly sitting (us included, you can see that blog here!) but what about those individuals that stand the entire time they are at work? There are a few professions I can think of off the top of my head, and all of them fall under the “beauty” category…those individuals that are cutting our hair, giving us a massage, waxing our eyebrows..the people that keep us looking great! But they are on their feet all…day…long…all of those twists and curves, and maneuvering their bodies to get the perfect cut, that hard knot, all in the name of looking good! With all that standing, and body twisting, it can cause some pains in your back, your hands, and your arms. Sound familiar? Well we are here to help! Here are 3 tips for those of you with pain from a standing job:

1. Stretch

I know, sounds basic right? But it’s true..between clients take some time to stretch, and relax, touch your toes, reach for the sky, do some crossovers with your arms, just try to loosen up those muscles and joints.

2. Take Time to Sit

Schedule atlas a 15-20 minute break to get sometime in to sit, and relax. Drink some water and eat a healthy lunch or snack. Sitting in your case can help relieve some pressure and stress from your muscles, especially your back.

3. Take Advantage of Our October Special!

Aw Yes, shameless plug I know, but this needs to be a tip because the deal is too good to pass up! We are offering $20.00 off anyone that works in the beauty industry for the entire month of October! We know that your busy season is starting to ramp up, so we want to get you in top shape so you can be your best! Take advantage of the special and schedule your appointment today!
