Dr. Dave Balzer is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA. Dave’s passion is empowering others to fulfill their goals of living a healthy, active lifestyle. He grew up in Morris, Illinois, a small suburb of Chicago, and attended Augustana College in Illinois where he earned his B.S. in Biology. He was a four-year student-athlete on the Augustana College baseball team and this experience pushed him toward the physical therapy profession.
Dave moved to Arizona where he received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Franklin Pierce University (FPU) in Goodyear where he was lucky to learn from both Dr. Tamara and Eric Hefferon. He had the opportunity to work alongside both as the Graduate Teaching Assistant at FPU.Dr. Balzer’s passion for exercise and health started with his experiences playing baseball, basketball, soccer, and football and this led him to have a special interest in the prevention of overuse injuries in youth sports. Dave also enjoys working with the active adult population or those suffering from chronic pain. He has found a specific interest in helping patients who have found little relief from the traditional medical system and loves demonstrating to patients the impact physical therapy can have on returning people to their lives!
Dr. Balzer enjoys anything having to do with the outdoors and athletics. He recently completed a 40 Hikes in 40 Weeks Challenge which expanded his love for Arizona. In his free time, Dave enjoys playing golf, hiking, hunting, camping, and all things St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball or Illinois Fightin’ Illini basketball!
