Physical Therapy Helps Women’s Health

Glendale Physical Therapist

Becoming a women’s Heath specialist has really opened my eyes to how important the pelvic floor is to how we feel. Based off of muscle attachments and overlap with the hip, low back, abdomen, and legs addressing the pelvic floor is crucial in rehab. I have been amazed by with treating the pelvic floor how changes have occurred in the low back and hips with pain relief. The most common issue I face is lack of knowledge that pelvic floor physical therapy exists. Most patients I see have been suffering for years with minimal relief with traditional physical therapy or with pain medications. The reason why that doesn’t work, is just like the muscles in your neck or anywhere in the body with tightness dependent pain, the tissue needs to be addressed. During pelvic floor therapy we address the whole body with additional emphasis on the relationship with the pelvic floor. The improvements I have seen are, decreased incontinence, Improved intercourse, decreased pain in sitting, decreased low back and hip pain, and improvement in bathroom habits.
