Full Marathon Accomplished!

Glendale Physical Therapy

Meet Kelcey. She is not only an awesome person, but you may have seen her or spoken to her here at Impact Physical Therapy as she works with us! What better way to spotlight this amazing colleague that her accomplishment of running her second FULL marathon this past weekend (26.2 Miles!) at the PF Changs Rock n Roll in Phoenix. We ask her about her training and how she was able to successfully complete the race, and she explains below! Congratulations Kelcey! We are so very proud of you!

I needed minor physical therapy for lateral ankle pain/weakness; so foam rolling anterior tibia along with quads was recommended to be added to my weekly regiment. I also incorporated less running this time, training, and more plyometric and cross training workouts through Crossfit Incendia. I still ran upwards of 13 miles on every other Saturday, but with a busy schedule and multiple jobs, I was able to maintain endurance and condition my body in less time than with running alone. Physical Therapy has helped me fit training for a marathon into a smaller time frame daily and avoid injuries. I felt the race went well, I knew what to expect going into it since running it in 2015. I wasn’t mentally strong enough on Sunday because on Saturday I put my almost 17 year old dog to rest. I feel the different between running shorter distance races and running a marathon is being mentally tough/strong.
